Dr Bates, of the New York Eye Infirmary, made a breakthrough in his eye research; he discovered that most eye conditions could be permanently cured. And when I say permanently cured I mean it. So how did Dr Bates discover this? Well, he discovered that as when your eyes are not under strain then they retain perfect vision. But as soon as your eyes become strained, then that’s when problems occur. That’s because in the case of farsightedness the recti muscles tighten. If the eye’s oblique muscles tighten then nearsightedness occurs. But through his research, Dr Bates discovered that by regularly exercising the muscles of a strained eye that the vision returns to normal. That’s because the muscle tension disappears so the vision reverts to normal. Dr Bates ran tests on thousands of his patients with astonishing results. They were all able to stop wearing glasses as their vision returned to normal.
Astigmatism
Astigmatism is a form of refractive error. Basically it’s when the meridians of the eyeball fail to come together to a single point. So when the lines come in to your eye from a horizontal plain, they do not meet the same point as the lines coming from the vertical point.
Most cases of Astigmatism are caused by unequal tension of the upper and lower Recti Muscles. This is opposed to the muscles on either side. The result is a flattening of the eye in one meridian. When you relax and there is no eye strain present the error is reduced. So the muscles need to be trained to develop new habits. And a reasonable amount of time must be allowed for this. The symptoms which accompany astigmatism vary greatly. With some people there is just a tired feeling in the eyes. Other have severe headache, gastric distress or increased nervousness. There is rarely a complaint of impaired vision – that’s the usual symptom of myopia. Usually myopic (nearsighted) astigmatism does not cause as much distress as hyperopic (farsighted) astigmatism. Astigmatism can occur at any age. It seldom occurs in the young. And it is most likely in late puberty. So what causes astigmatism? The cause of astigmatism is a strain and this is usually caused by stress. Worry increases muscle tension and decreases muscle co-ordination. Failure of normal muscle co-ordination produces astigmatism. By treating the nervous centres and releasing the strain on the nervous centres the patient can be carried over the period of stress and the eyes will return to normal when the body is healthy. Treatment for Astigmatism The person needs to follow the exercises for farsightedness.
Fifteen minutes a day is sufficient to give good results in moderate cases. An hour a day is sufficient in severe cases. Always check the light and how good the print is in the book you’re reading. * Consciously relax the eyes before you go to sleep. Feel your eyes go soft and loose. When your eyes first start giving problems it is usually in one direction such as reading or looking at moving pictures. It’s only later that the error is transferred all aspects when using your eyes. When you have normal vision your eyes will continue to automatically shift the point of focus and to blink without discomfort. But if any discomfort is felt, it is obvious that the eyes are being used improperly. So what you need to do is relax the eyes and keep them shifting, moving from one part of the screen to another. Blink at least ten times a minute and when convenient, give a short glance away from the screen. Many eye doctors advise eye glasses when an eye strain is diagnosed. Yet there is no refractive error.. In fact fitting eye glasses in the case of an eye strain produces the very error for which the eye glasses were prescribed. That’s because the eye is flexible and adapts to the glasses. The most common sources of eye strain are insufficient blinking and shifting.
